Working from home is becoming more and more popular. It’s a fantastic option for many people in modern society as it cuts out long commutes and enables flexibility around day-to-day life. Independent Reliv Distributors can enjoy all of the benefits that come from working remotely, but it is important to use your time wisely to make sure you get your work completed and goals achieved!
Here’s some top tips to help you to work from home successfully:
Set Yourself a Reasonable Start and End Time
Now that you don’t have to commute to work, it can be tempting to have a lie-in and roll out of bed whenever you fancy getting up. But you could be setting yourself up for a day of missed opportunities and pushing important tasks back to another day. Whether you feel most productive in the day or evening, make sure that you have set yourself a time that you want to get started on your work and stick to it. Similarly, give yourself an end time so that you don’t end up working longer hours than you need to. It’s important that working from home doesn’t result in you missing out on time with your family or for yourself at the end of your working day.
Don’t Work in Your Pyjamas!
Another temptation of working from home is to stay in your pyjamas or even in bed! This does not set you up for a day of handling important business, making conference calls and being as productive as you can be. Make sure you are washed and dressed before starting your day and set up a suitable working environment for yourself – the more professional you feel, the more professional you will act.
Plan Each Day Effectively
Structure is key to working from home successfully. You can’t just wake up and decide there and then what you need to do that day. This could lead you to putting off the bigger, more important tasks that you have to work on. Before you log off each night, make a list of what you want to achieve the next day. This will ensure that when you wake up the next day, you have a clear idea of what needs to be worked on and you can plan your time effectively.
Have the Right Tools
There are some fantastic tools that can help you to work from home effectively. A much-used tool within the Reliv community that can help you to get started with conference calls and webinars is Zoom, but there are many other tools out there that can help you. Do your research and see what can benefit you in building your business!
Maintain a Level of Human Contact
Whilst working from home has many fantastic advantages, it can sometimes feel quite isolating. Make sure you maintain some sort of human contact on a daily basis, whether that’s conducting face-to-face appointments each morning or calling someone in your group each afternoon, human contact is essential to building your Reliv business as well as keeping your own state of mind healthy.
Take Little Breaks
It’s easy to lose track of time when working from home, particularly if you have lots of great ideas flowing and you don’t want to stop your train of thought. But it’s important to take little breaks throughout the day to keep your mind clear and fresh. A lack of breaks can result in you working longer than you had originally planned to and feeling fatigued at the end of the day. Take small breaks throughout the day and a slightly longer break for lunch. Try and get some fresh air and exercise during your breaks to keep yourself alert and energised.
Eat Well and Stay Hydrated
Working from home means that you have easy access to your kitchen and all of the treats that you usually save for the weekend! However, a healthy diet is essential for your overall wellness and eating regularly throughout the day can stop your eating habits from becoming erratic. Prepare your snacks and lunch for the day before you start working – this will make it easier for you to stick to your healthy eating regime. It is also essential that you stay hydrated so keep a bottle of water nearby and fill it up regularly.
